Question by ?Dawn?: Should I get my tongue piercing redone?

I’d had my tongue pierced for 3 weeks. Yesterday I went to get a new barbell because the original was putting alot of pressure on the bottom of my mouth. The place I got it pierced is over an hour away so I went somewhere closer for the new jewelry.
The piercer there, who has over 10 years experience in piercing and a medical background, looked at it and basically told me the guy that did it f***** it up. It was slanted back real far AND off center. She told me that I would never be able to wear the regular bars. Plus I would always have it clicking on my teeth and the pressure because of how bad the slant was. She didn’t want to tell me what to do but suggested I take it out. If I didn’t want to, she would sell me a new bar or give me an acrylic ball for the bottom. But all that would do is protect my teeth. I would still have the other problems. I really want to get it redone, but I can’t see spending that much money on it. What is your opinion? I had her take it out while there.

I have my tongue pierced twice and when it started closing i shoved it back in. It may hurt depending on the person, but it normally isn’t a problem.

i’d demand my money back from the parlor.
you wanted a good piercing from them, and didn’t get it.

Yeah I’d Definately Demand A Refund From The Dude Who Fucked Up Your Piercing The First Time Round. When I Had My Industrial Done The Dude Screwed It Up Real Bad And It Got Infected So I Demanded My Money Back And He Gave Me It. If That Doesn’t Work And You Really Want It Re-done I Guess It’s Worth Paying For It Again. Just Make Sure You Have It Done By Someone Who Knows Their Stuff This Time! Good Luck =]

Good Luck getting your money back! Rule of thumb, the crappier the ‘gouger’ (pro slang for bad piercer), the less likely it is to give refunds. It just has another Awsh*t! on their book for another bad pierce!
The back slant is to be expected, because of the tongue muscles, but there is NO excuse/reason for it to be off-center! This is just BAD piercing!
If you like it so much, get it redone, but I DEFINITELY suggest you do more intense professional background check on piercers before you choose one to re-pierce your tongue!
Before I quit, I would have LOVED for the gov’s to have passed laws licensing piercers, as it would have put the great majority of ‘gougers’ OUT OF BUSINESS and prevented so much of the grief such as you have been victim of!
