A few nice Acrylic Jewelry images I found:
Black and silver choker – front

Silver and red acrylic paint on black double-satin ribbon. The fastener is just thin red ribbon looped through the hemmed ends and tied off.
~Handcrafted Decoupaged Boxes~

I started with boxes sold in "Papier Mache" area of craft store. They are made of brown paper. Boxes were painted with teal blue acrylic craft paint. Flowers for decoration were hand-collected earlier, placed on paper towels and pressed between the pages of a telephone book. When totally dry, flowers and plant materials were glued on with a brush and diluted Elmers. Additionally, touches of accent paints in the center of some flowers, dry brush flicks of gold, and finally, glazing with acrylic medium completed the project.
Have fun making these for your jewelry or treasures!
Studio By Sculpey (Polymer Clay): Jewelry Bead Test 00

Image by Karen A. Scofield (sari0009 on yahoo)
Hi, I’m Karen A. Scofield, this is my work, it is copyrighted — my photos may not be used in any form without my written permission.
Pictured:
2" and 1 7/8" Long Studio by Sculpey Beads From Left to Right: Half and half Desert Sand and Cappuccino (makes a great tan flesh color but not a good faux wood); 3 parts Cappuccino and one part Desert Sand (ah, more like faux wood); Desert Sand (a yellowish ecru like color); 3 parts Cappuccino and one part Desert Sand.
Blogged [April 4, 2009]
Studio by Sculpey Notes:
1. Upon proper conditioning in a 72 degree F room with cool hands, Studio by Sculpey feels like Ultra Light (UL) Sculpey when working with it — marshmallowy. May easily distort and elongate while removing from molds. Even a practiced hand at dust and fiber particle removal leaves marks, marks that most would not have the dexterity and patience to fix without causing further distortion. One false move and you can loose your work. That soft.
2. Cured, it’s stronger than Premo and Classic Fimo according to compression, tension, and bending tests (UL is strong too, which is why it’s used for armatures among other things).
3. Color did not change after baking per manufacturer’s instructions.
4. At 3/16 to 1/4" thicknesses, it’s slightly bendable after curing and cooling, something that may ruin faux wood and stone illusions but wouldn’t be a problem in most Studio by Sculpey home decor projects in which the clay is treated as an overlay on other items.
5. Has more mass than UL but does not float after curing as UL does.
6. Blends somewhat like other polymer clays.
7. Takes permanent dyes like Adirondack dyes very well (not shown)!
8. Cured and cooled surface can be permanently dented/pitted/dinged if heavy objects are placed on top. I placed a bead under one of my heavy desk chair’s wheels, sat in the chair, and the bead’s surface was permanently pitted from sand from the beach (I live by Lake Michigan) and the rough cement basement floor. Bead didn’t break though!
9. Takes acrylic paint very well, just like other polymer clays.
10. Rubber stamps that work well on other polymer clays work well on Studio by Sculpey Clay. Captures fine details well.
I think most people could work with Studio by Sculpey using their tools (they have lovely texture sheets) and Studio by Sculpey home decor projects…probably why there even are certified Studio instructors…Studio by Sculpey performs wonderfully if you’re a good little monkey and work with given projects and tools.
I can’t forsee that most bead and doll artists will choose Studio by Sculpey for their beads and dolls though.
Great for home decor, probably never going to be used by too many bead or doll artists, mmm, but there will be some that do.
Question by bristeph18: Jewelry making materials?
I’m opening my own online store. I’m making and selling cute hair extensions, homemade make up, and fashion jewelry.
I have never made fashion jewelry before, but I have a lot of designs and I’m a fast learner. I’m using high quality beads and decor from swarovski crystals, but as for the material I have no idea what to use or how to form it. By material meaning metal, acrylic, resin, etc.
What is the best kind?
How do I mold it into the shape I need for necklace pendands?
Which is more of a high quality material that isn’t overly expensive?
Thanks

I don’t have a whole of advice, but if your bead supplier is big, then they might be able to give you instructions/courses on this. Companies like John Bead (Canada) are always giving courses, training sessions, newsletters, etc. They may be able to help you out over the internet if you are not close to Toronto to attend their sessions in person. Good luck.

The Doll Affair Event

Ball-jointed dolls (BJDs) or Asian Ball-jointed Dolls (ABJDs) are realistically proportioned dolls, usually manufactured in east Asian countries (for example in South Korea, Japan and China). These dolls are fully articulated with ball joints at the appropriate locations on their bodies.
These dolls are fully poseable and customizable, with removable wigs, eyes, hands, feet and heads. Millions of variations are available. Clothing, shoes, jewelry, and other accessories are also available.
Ball-jointed dolls follow a traditional Asian view in their aesthetics. The designs are diverse and range from anime-inspired to the hyper-realistic.
Many owners assign their dolls to a certain personalized character, and they are sometimes used as subjects of artistic works, such as photography. Photo stories are popular on doll web forums.

Question by herehere&here: Where can I buy fake body jewelry for my face, like lip piercing and eyebrow piercings?
I’m not allowed to get either pierced yet, but I want to be able to see what they will look like when I do. Do you know where, if anywhere, I can buy a fake eyebrow ring and/or a fake lip ring? Reasonably priced hopefully.
Thanks for any help!

Question by 1 Corinthians 9:26b-27: What kind of paint should I use for my wood bangles?
I bought some that were on clearance and it says I can use paint, but what kind? I want paint that it’ll make it gloss and shiny like the bangles at the store in the jewelry section. This may be silly, but would acrylic paints work?

Question by Augustine. Figurine.: Jewelry material reaction question?
Alright. Long story short, my ears should be around a 0ga by this summer when I will be going on vacation for two months. I’m not too keen on the idea of wearing my typical steel CBRs the entire summer. Problem is, is that I don’t know how things like acrylic, silicone, etc. will react in salt water and chlorinated water. Is there any material I should avoid wearing while swimming in these areas?
And just for the record, I was planning on getting some glass bulletholes, those are non-reactionary, right?

Bloodstone seal stamps

Bloodstone, one of the three famous traditional seal stones in China, is produced in Changhua County of Lin’an, Zhejiang. It got its name from its bright red mottles like chicken blood. Bloodstone of Chuanghua is featured by mottles as red as cinnabar and a texture as smooth as jade, and is the best material for seals. Bloodstone is a natural matrix of such clay minerals as dickite, kaolinite and pyrophyllite that contain cinnabar. Its mineral vein can be found sometime, but in small reserve, and is difficult to excavate.
It began to be used at the end of the Yuan Dynasty and was highly valued since the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. Bloodstone handcrafts and seals were widely collected by royal family members and nobles at that time.
Bloodstone products entered in recent years the international trading market for jewelry, and have become a distinctive commodity.
The principal design of the first stamp is an imperial seal with ”Qian Long Chen Han”(Emperor Qianlong’s handwriting) cut in seal characters in relief. With red mottles at the top of the seal in the shape of silk threads, the seal is warm and slippery the quality, refined in carving and vivid in image. A water-side landscape full of vigor is shown in the seal that is called “a small painting created by the infinitely resourceful god”. It is one of the most exquisitely carved seals of Emperor Qianlong. The principal design of the second stamp is the imperial seal of “Wei Ji Wei Kang” cut in seal characters in intaglio. An imposing dragon among the clouds was carved on the seal, with red mottles distributed on its body in form of clusters. This seal was used by Emperor Jiaqing of Qing Dynasty to remind himself of the way of administering the stete.
SL Outfit 9/15/07

In the game Second Life, I play the avatar Juushika Redgrave.
This outfit was inspired by this fashion editorial and also worked well for taking to Jewelry Expo because of the lack of prims (I went shoeless, too, which also helped; on a sidenote, lag there was absolutely minimal, and Miriel deserves huge praise for her wonderful work setting it up). The base of this outfit is a freebie leotard from PixelDolls, which I’d layered into other outfits but never worn by itself. I tinted it a rich purple (pink is not my color) and wore it on the jacket and pants layer. Beneath it, I layered tights from Tete a Pied (full length, which means they’re on the socks and underwear layers) and I added shoes from Shiny Things which are big, black, and wonderfully crafted.
I wanted long, almost-but-not-quite messy hair so I went with the Emi style by Kin with the bangs modded to make them shorter and bring them out of the eyes. And to keep this outfit from being too simple or predictable, I added a simple mask from Illusions which I modded to make it narrow, drawing attention to the eyes and preventing alpha flickr with the bangs. I even took off my glasses for this look—I figure the mask counts for something. ^_^ This was a different sort of outfit for me, but I absolutely loved wearing it, and hope to draw from some more fashion editorials for outfit creation in the future. Needless to say, they’re wonderful inspiration. I also had fun picking poses (all from Reel Movement) that were a little different, a little more high-fashion, a little more edgy for this shoot.

Question by huvik: Visiting friend in jail – I have a crapload of body jewelry. What will I have to do at the metal detectors?!?
I have 18 body piercings, about half of which I can’t take out without my body having a weird reaction to as well as the holes closing up immediately (yes, I know this).
Could they possibly make an exception for my body jewelry and not make me take it out?!
Best answer:
Answer by Emily T
I guarantee you will not get any exceptions visiting at the jail. I used to visit a friend and people would be clogging up the line at the metal detector taking off all their jewelry. If you can, replace the jewelry with temporary plastic pieces. Otherwise, if you can’t make it through the metal detector you won’t be allowed it.

Question by vampiree: How much does Home Depot charge for thin acrylic sheets and will they cut it into any shape?
im trying to make jewelry shapes like bats, etc.
please help :]
Best answer:
Answer by knitknack83
Most places will only cut acrylic into squared shapes. They use a large scoring machine and break the edge. Your best bet is to get some shrinky-dinky plastic (kids crafts department of most crafting stores) if you want small shapes, or use a dremel tool or grinder of some sort on larger shapes. Good luck!

Question by Waste Man: Is it okay to put in acrylic plug after six weeks from the initial piercing?
hi, i got my ears pierced 2 days ago with a 1.6mm needle, and i was wondering if it would be okay to put this 1.6mm acrylic plugs in after six weeks?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PLAIN-UV-ACRYLIC-PLUG-STRETCHER-14g-1-6mm-BLACK-/220551391829?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_CostumeJewellery_CA
or would steel ones be better?
also how long should i wait before stretching?
any additional info you think i should know would be greatly appreciated also.
thanks
Best answer:
Answer by Nishi!
Technically yes you can put the acrylic in since they say the piercing heal in 6 weeks. But remember acrylic isnt good to wear all the time. I prefer steel for everyday but I buy cute plugs that I wear on occasion that are acrylic.
Oh you should just wait until that is healed before you stretch up to 12g since it is a small stretch. But if it feels like you have to force it in, just wait a few more days and try again and use some jojoba oil( you can get a small bottle of it for on ebay too and it lasts for a really long time!). Also Please go in order, its not cool to rip your earlobes by going fast and skipping sizes lol!
hope you get to your goal size!

Adjusting the birthday mice …

Inspired by RL discussion of (hypothetical, we think) dead-mouse jewelry, Miss Darwinian’s typist crafted a full-body suite of catnip couture for Naomi’s birthday.
* Earrings with catnip mouse danglers.
* Sunglasses with plump mouse tied to each stem with many many yarn ties (Souris de Bondage).
* And for the catnip stripper, lovely twin pasties plus a gstring with yet one more mouse as a modesty dangler.
No, none of these items are for sale in Miss D’s store.
Not yet, anyway.
Mobile / Stabile 5

There are no guideposts in the sense of familiar objects to replicate when creating abstract non-objective forms. For me that’s part of the excitement and motivation…to create something unfamiliar. I reach inside for direction. Materials are transformed as I work until internal states of thought, feeling, and intuition are externalized.
Though I make sketches to sort through ideas, decisions come up that are not helped by two-dimensional drawings. Like working in watercolor, once I mark my materials, it can’t be undone. I fail if I loose clarity and momentum. What’s necessary is a clear sense of aesthetic direction and being able to stay focused in the moment.
As a sculptor I’ve worked with welded steel, cast bronze, wood, stone, clay, fibers, plastics, fluorescent lights etc. Right now, thinking in the materials I’m currently using for jewelry design naturally translates into ideas for sculptural forms.
No. 5 is the first of an intended Kite Series. This one is done in 14K gold-filled and niobium wires with semi-precious stones for color and shape detail. The body measures 7.75" L x 4" H x 4.5" W with a kite tail of 12". Here it’s a stabile, but it can also hang and move with air flow.
